For a long time I have categorised tasks into either creative or procedural, and although there are definitely exceptions I feel that maths is mostly procedural and literature is mostly creative.
I’ve found that most people much prefer one than the other. And yep, I’m taking into account that there are crazy boring as well as fascinating elements of both.
I think that it is pretty lucky if we enjoy both. And I think that we can train ourselves to enjoy them by finding aspects of each that we like.
In a way, I think they are the most important academic skills because they show us a way to exercise one part of our thinking while resting another. Or is that just me? 🤔🧐
